Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King on dating rumors: 'If we were gay, we would tell you'

Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King longtime friends and one of television's most iconic duos are setting the record straight.
During a sit-down interview with Melinda French Gates for her "Moments That Make Us" series, Winfrey and King spoke about their high-profile friendship and the duo shot down the years-long rumor of them possibly dating.
"For years, people used to say we were gay," Winfrey, 70, said in the interview. "We were up against that for forever."
King chimed in, saying people still wonder if they are digital dating, even to this day.
"I used to say, You got to do a show on this,'" King recalled telling Winfrey in the interview. "Because its hard enough for me to get a dine on Saturday night with people thinking we're gay."

Oprah Winfrey is addressing a long-standing rumor about her and pal Gayle King.
The media mogul addressed the once-incessant story of her and best friend King, 69, having an affair, in an episode of Melinda French Gates' podcast "Moments That Make Us."
The conversation ranged from getting older to leaning on one another during their biggest life moments and navigating being friends and public figures.
"For years, people used to say we were gay, and heed , we were up against that forever," said Winfrey, "And people still may think it."
Though King is currently single, Winfrey has been with longtime boyfriend Stedman Graham for nearly four decades.

In spite of the rumors, Gates said King and Winfrey's bond has "taught community that women can contain deep, true friendships."

Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King are once again addressing rumors about their sexual orientations.
Winfrey, 70, and King, 69, talked about their decades-long friendship in an interview released Wednesday, July 24, with Melinda French Gates on her new series on YouTube, Moments That Create Us.
Speaking to why some interpret their relationship as something more than platonic, Winfrey said, I consider weve shared pretty much everything and I would have to say, it wasnt even a matter of navigation.”

King then chimed in and shared how the female homosexual rumors impacted her personal life.

"I'm not a lesbian I'm not even kind of a lesbian," Winfrey said. "And the reason why it irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I'm lying. That's number one.
