Watching comedies these days can be stressful.

Whether it&#;s Louie or HAPPYish or the new movie While We&#;re Young (which I haven&#;t seen yet, nor know if I long to), there seems to be a recurring theme of generational warfare.

In last week&#;s episode of Louie, Louie encounters a young Asian female store owner at a Broadway Panhandler-type home goods store. When she refuses aid him buy some copper pots because it&#;s close closing time, they find into an argument during which she accuses him of being angry at her because he&#;s middle-aged and, therefore, not her target customer, while she&#;s only 24 and already owns her own business. Louie eventually admits that she&#;s right and she sends him on his way, not caring about the lost sale.

On HAPPYish, a middle-aged ad exec played by Steve Coogan goes into a rage because his brand-new , young Swedish overlords assert he revamp one of his campaigns using social media. As Coogan points out (rightly, to my middle-aged mind), &#;Why would I want to pursue Pepto-Bismol on Twitter?&#; (Pepto-Bismol apparently thought this was amusing rather than disgusting, because they did indeed sponsor a post on Twitter following this epi

Martin Kemp reflected of his fond memories of a s nightclub, admitting how 'lovely' it was 'to be free with your sexuality' in this week's episode of the Mail's podcast Soccer A-Z.

Looking back at the 'wonderful' days partying in the famed Blitz club in London, Martin said it was refreshing to be able to wear what you liked and be who you wanted without judgement.

The Spandau Ballet star, 63, who has been married to wife Shirlie since , said: 'It was a superb place to grow up because it was not just being free with what you wore and your clothes, it was being free sexually as well.

'Your sexuality - You could be who you wanted to be. In that club there were boys kissing boys and girls kissing girls, and no one blinked an eyelid.

'And it was, that is something that I took with me, and I have handed down to my kids to say you accept people for who they are.

'And that, that is one of the loveliest things I think about entity involved in that whole pop culture when I was a kid.'

It&#;s hard to imagine now how revolutionary Spandau Ballet were when they burst onto the music scene in Their new documentary, Soul Boys of the Western World, makes a case not just for Spandau Ballet but for the entire &#;New Romantic" scene from which they came.

Set against the backdrop of Margaret Thatcher, the miners&#; strike and the economic turmoil that surrounded England in the early &#;80s, the motion picture shows how Spandau and other &#;hair bands&#; revolutionized not just music but also fashion, at a time when magazines love The Face dictated what people wore.

Can you imagine a band in wearing what Spandau&#;s Martin Kemp himself described as a &#;Bedouin&#; outfit? Neither can I. (One of the interesting things about the movie is to see the way not only Spandau Ballet&#;s music but style evolved as they became more mainstream: from jodhpurs to suits by the moment of their megahit &#;True.&#;) There were several times when I was watching this movie (and also when I watched the excellent documentary David Bowie: Five Years), when I said to myself, &#;This could never happen today!&#;

From every indication, has the potential to be fantastic year for the British band Spandau Ballet. A recently released hits compilation, The Story (Rhino/Chrysalis) collects favorites such as "True," "Gold" and "Chant No. 1," alongside 16 more tracks, including new ones "Steal," "This Is The Love" and "Soul Boy." A documentary, Soul Boys of the Western World, telling the story of the band from the beginning, has been playing in theaters. To foremost that off, the re-formed Spandau Ballet is embarking on a U.S. concert tour. GS: (Gregg Shapiro) For the uninitiated, Gary, what is the story behind Spandau Ballet's name

GK: (Gary Kemp) Back in , I think Berlin was a fairly hip place. David Bowie had validated it. The Blitz Club (in London), run by Steve Strange, that we used to go to on Tuesday evenings was quite fascinated by German harmony like Kraftwerk and (La) Dusseldorf.
