Record executive Clive Davis says he's bisexual.
In his novel memoir out Tuesday, the year-old music mogul, who is twice divorced, reveals that he had sex with a man in the s. Davis writes in "The Soundtrack of My Life" that he hadn't been repressed or confused during his marriages and that sex with a man "provided welcome relief."
Davis is the principal creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment. He writes that he's been in a "strong monogamous relationship" with a man for the last seven years.
He also writes that he dated a man from to , which he says was a "tough adjustment" for his son Mitchell. He says after "one trying year," he and his son worked things out. Davis is the father of three children.
In a new interview with ABC's "Nightline," Davis says bisexuality is "maligned and misunderstood," adding, "I'm not lying. Bisexuality does exist. For over 50 years I never had sex with a male. It wasn't repressed. I had very good sexual relationships with women."
In the book, Davis also delves into his experiences in the music industry, recounting his time with Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Simon & Garfunkel, Janis Joplin, Carlos Santana, the Grateful Dead and others.

Bisexuality does not equal promiscuity.
Nor is it synonymous with cheating, lying, fence-sitting, or being noncommittal to or indecisive about one sexuality.
It's none of these things any more than any other sexuality is.
Unfortunately, bisexuality remains one of the misunderstood, misrepresented, and misperceived sexual orientations by both straight and gay communities. (We hear a lot about homophobia, and are starting to hear more about transphobia, but biphobia still remains relatively unknown.) That's partly due to the fact that some people, as they are exploring their sexual orientation, identify as bisexual for a period of occasion before identifying as something else.
In the gay people, for instance, some male lover people may fear that a person who identifies as bisexual is too afraid to admit organism gay.
But bisexuality does not mean being open about being attracted to the opposite sex while creature secretive and ashamed about being attracted to the same sex. That's organism closeted.
And cheating is cheating, whether you're straight, homosexual, bisexual, or pansexual.

Clive Davis' new memoir, "The Soundtrack of My Life," is full of inside stories from throughout his famed career. But the biggest revelation is a personal one: For the first time, the year-old record executive discusses his "bisexual life."
Davis, who has been married and divorced twice, has never before publicly addressed his sexuality. In a candid five-page section toward the finish of the book, due in stores today, he writes that he first had a sexual meeting with a man during "the era of Studio " "On this late hours, after imbibing enough alcohol, I was open to responding to his sexual overtures," writes Davis.
