I see these types of topics a lot and the responses are always the same. It's like the moment you say "gay", fans initiate scrambling for their spiritual water and start hissing. xD

This. A lot of people overlook this one simple concept. It's pretty common in anime for characters to be person-sexual, in that they really only show admire interest in one person and gender doesn't participate a role. Think of all those anime where the main girl has the hots for the main guy and no other guy. Not really any different here.
For Killua, Gon could be that one person; Gon being a guy isn't really that important as it's pretty obvious Killua doesn't show as much love for any other person (guy or girl) in comparison. Killua is probably Gon-sexual, not lgbtq+ (or even straight or bi) until he shows major interest in other people. (And by sexual, I mean the "i love you only" compassionate of way.) A masterpost on Togashi’s same-sex attracted subtext and why it’s intentional.
Hi ! After seeing so many posts about Togashi dropping subtext about Killua's possible romantic feelings for Gon, I mind it'd be a excellent idea to make a sort of "masterpost" with all the subtext that Togashi has included into his work.
I usually view a lot of people trying to say that HxH isn't about love affair and that Togashi isn't interested in writing love affair into the manga, but when you analyze all the subtext that's been going on the further Gon and Killua's affair progresses, I think it's incorrect to say that Togashi has never hinted at the possibility of romance in HxH.

Also, please note that I will only establish this analysis on the manga, so there can be no mistake that "maybe this is just something the anime made gayer" : i need to prove that the subtext is 100% intentional on Togashi's part.

well first of all, killua undeniably loves gon immensely. the issue is whether it’s platonic or not. i think it’s both platonic and romantic... like a first love kind of thing. but you comprehend, when watching hxh from a single frame I could just like physically feel the love radiating from killua like that’s not an overstatement it was just like wow, he really really loves gon. but anyway, there’s his “gon you are light” speech.. in which he literally says gon is his light... there’s when he said he’d commit lover’s suicide with gon... (shinjuu- double suicide with a strong sentimental implication. it’s one of those words that can’t really be translated.) there’s how he stares lovingly at him.... you comprehend, it seems like he loves this kid. he has like a large fat crush on him. there’s also the whole palm thing where it was played as killua being jealous and seeing palm as a rival, and later breaking down in front of palm because he thinks he’s not good enough to help gon and thinks palm is the only one who can aide him now, and palm re
