Is ben & jerry gay
- Ben and Jerry, with their tendency to mix left wing politics with tasty ice cream, has decided to commemorate the advent of matching sex marriage in their native Vermont by renaming their Chubby Hubby ice cream to Hubby Hubby.
According to the Chicago Tribune, "The name change to "Hubby Hubby" is temporary and, for most of the country, largely symbolic. "Hubby Hubby" ice cream will at
this aim only be sold in Vermont through September.
"For those not in the grasp, Chubby/Hubby Hubby is fudge covered peanut butter filled pretzels in vanilla malt ice cream rippled with fudge and peanut butter."
While one finds nothing false with same sex marriage, one wonders what the utility is of having someone else's political lead to shoved down ones throat (literally!) It's bad enough that ice cream, which one likes among the top ten of life's simple pleasures, is also fattening and tends to contribute to type two diabetes. Now one has to be annoyed at ice cream being politically correct.
Personally, this is the sort of thing that leadsAre Ben and Jerry More Than Just Co-founders of the Iconic Ice Cream Brand?
With how popular the brand is, there's no way you haven't heard of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. With its iconic flavor names and adorable cows on the packaging, it always grabs attention. Mixing politics with business "is always fraught with peril," said Dan Mitchell in The Big Money, but "that didn't stop Ben & Jerry's." The ice-cream maker has temporarily changed the name of its Chubby Hubby ice cream flavor to Hubby Hubby in support of the decision to make queer marriage legal in the company's home state, Vermont. Predictably, the move was promptly slammed by hordes of "Internet crazies."
Who can blame them? said James Delingpole in Britain's DailyTelegraph. I don't have anything against gay people, "I'm probably OK" with homosexual marriage. "But here’s where I draw the line. I do NOT desire my freaking ice cream tub to tell me gay marriage is a great and wonderful thing."
Don't worry, said the San Francisco Chronicle. Vermont officially made the jump from same-sex unions to queer marriages this week, but the Ben & Jerry's 30-day switch from Chubby Hubby to Hubby Hubby is "mostly symbolic." And the company won't switch the labels—it would grab 18 months to fetch them to market—so you won't even see modern labels on the tubs in your grocer's freezer.

Ben and Jerry, From Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, are Not a Couple
Daven Hiskey
Myth: Ben and Jerry, from Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, are a couple. In fact, Jerry was dating his eventual wife when Ben and Jerry were roommates. He also left the firm for a few years to help his future wife, Elizabeth, pursue her Ph.D. in psychology. The rumor that Ben and Jerry are gay received a huge boost when Ben & Jerry’s came out with the “Hubby Hubby” flavor for one month, which featured two men getting married on the cover and was in support of queer marriage rights. “Hubby Hubby” was just a rebranded version of the accepted flavor “Chubby Hubby”, which is a vanilla malt swirled with chocolate and peanut butter and includes the chocolate covered, peanut butter filled pretzels.
